Biography

Leo Díaz, Puerto Plata (1977). Leo started painting at the age of fifteen. He was self-taught during his early years and was later formally and academically trained at the Bellas Artes art school in Puerto Plata, his hometown, as well as in Santiago. His painting influences range from the Renaissance Era with Michelangelo and Tintoretto to the modern Dutch painters Rembrandt and Van Gogh, and finally, to the 20th century Spanish painter Pablo Picasso and also the Russian-born, American

Leo Díaz Pintor DominicanoLeo Díaz, Puerto Plata, República Dominicana, 1977. Artista visual, dibujante, fotógrafo, muralista, diseñador y profesor de artes visuales, se inició en la pintura a los quince años. De formación autodidacta en sus primeros años, posteriormente recibiría formación académica tanto en la escuela de Bellas Artes de Puerto Plata, su ciudad natal, como en la de Santiago – Santo Domingo.Sus influencias en pintura son variadas. Le vienen desde el Renacimiento con Miguel Ángel y Tintoretto y más modernamente con los holandeses Rembrandt y Van Gogh hasta desembocar en el siglo XX con los pintores Pablo Picasso y el ruso, emigrado a los Estados Unidos, Mark Rothko.Díaz actualmente vive y trabaja en Sosúa, donde es profesor de arte en Casa de Arte de Sosúa, República Dominicana. In case the artwork has been put up for sale, take into account the artist would have to manage with the organization of the exhibition the return of the artwork in order to be able to realize the shipment.
